The Tricar Group Celebrates Launch of The Mayfair
New Purpose-Built Rental Development in Old South London.
The Tricar Group hosted a special event today to mark the launch of construction on The Mayfair, a new purpose-built rental development located at 96 Ridout Street South in Old South, London.
The Mayfair is one of Tricar’s first projects in London to benefit from the federal government’s 100% GST/HST rebate program for new purpose-built rental housing. Introduced in September 2023, the program was designed to address Canada’s housing supply shortage by incentivizing the construction of long-term rental units. Eligible projects must begin construction before December 31, 2030, and be completed by December 31, 2035, with at least 90% of units held for long-term rental.
“The federal GST/HST rebate program was a key factor in moving this project forward,” said Adam Carapella, Vice President of The Tricar Group. “It’s a meaningful incentive that helps make purpose-built rental housing financially viable, and we’re proud to be part of the solution to London’s growing housing needs.”
“This rebate is about unlocking supply and supporting affordability,” said MP Peter Fragiskatos, who attended the event. “It’s designed to encourage developers to build the kind of housing Canadians need—secure, long-term rentals in growing communities.”
The event also welcomed Mayor Josh Morgan and Councillor Skylar Franke, and featured a visual unveiling of the building rendering and project branding.
“This is exactly the kind of housing we need in London,” said Mayor Josh Morgan. “The Mayfair represents smart intensification—adding new homes in a way that makes use of existing infrastructure and supports the vibrancy of our downtown core. It’s a great example of how we can grow responsibly and sustainably.”
The Mayfair will feature an 18-storey high-rise apartment rental with brownstone-style townhomes and a collection of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom suites. Residents will enjoy premium amenities including a residents’ lounge, fitness centre, 3rd floor terrace, and guest suite.
